New Year's Resolutions

Well, it is that time of the year again. So here goes with the obligatory New Year's resolutions:

1. Race at least the same number of races I did in 2005.
2. Podium at the D-ville DH (on my bike and not under someone else's name - especially not in the old farts category - see Ken Jeffery group 9).
3. Do a road race.
4. Keep out-blogging Sabine and actually maybe perhaps meet her in person (although I'm concerned about the Wizard of Oz little person behind the curtain possibility).
5. Beat Ms. Pink Fishnets in a race - game on chickee!!!
6. Finish remodeling the upstairs bathroom and not lose all my fitness doing it.
7. See Dawn more than once.
8. Ride outside more, on the rollers less.
9. TWW Tahoe hot tub party? Hmm... what happens at the TWW Tahoe hot tub party stays at the TWW Tahoe hot tub party...
10. Volunteer more of my time - actually do 20 hrs. of trail work since we're an IMBA club, oh, and do a Habitat for Humanity project (care to join me? 1/21 in Live no more).

Et tu?

on a bit of a serious note:Tunnel Road - Oakland

well.. I usually like taking pics with good cameras.. but fact is, a shot is a shot, and either you have one your you don't... to the cellphone cam it is.

Tunnel road is currently blocked at the top, and the occupants of the house just underneath this slide I'm sure are terrified of this next rain comming this evening. They currently do not want to clear this dirt either, cuz it can let loose the rest of the hill.

So you think your Christmas Lights were the bomb?

This must be somewhere in the burbs like Danville, Campbell... or maybe Castro Valley (no TWW'rs live in places like that right?)

1,2,3,Go!

Thank You Mr. Know It All

This is one of my all time favorite photos. It is really old, so I'm not so worried about posting it here considering all the sickos out there.

The big question is, at what point do kids stop finding joy in just about anything and become these cynical punks who think they know everything and that you know nothing at all? (not implying these two here are that way since they know of this blog now...)

Guess though that would sum up several of the people in TWW (or at least some people on the e-mail list). :)

Okay, yes, I'd like some cheese with my whine... (please include the Lactaid since I have problems with lactose).

No Description Necessary...

Too Much Fud

Well, back from the family holiday extravaganza and of course ate too much fud. But it is the holidays so what the hell. I'm sure I'll be getting sick since everyone else was sick, so that weight will be gone in no time.

What's a measly 2 pounds anyhow?

10 - ultralite tubes
5 - sets of Cranks Bros. triple ti pedals
4 - WTB Rocket V Stealth saddles
2 - rims
And a partridge in a pear tree.

(Or a bunch of cookies and chocolates - nuts and chews of course... yummy!)

Gimme Sumptin' ta Break!!!

Yes, I said the blog was going on hiatus for the holidays - but I have to vent 'cause I'm pissed at Craft. I ordered a Christmas present from them on 12/8 and just find out today, "Oh sorry, we don't have it at the warehouse. We'll credit your account." And I had to call them today to find this out. Gawd damn m-fers. That really freakin' pisses me off. Sons a biatches.

"It's just one of those days
When you don't wanna wake up
Everything is f_cked
Everybody sux
You don't really know why
But wanna justify
Rippin' someone's head off

- Limp Bizkit

Okay, I vented. Happy holidays!!!

TWW Issue Remote

Well, since the majority of TWW is men, we worked out a great sponsorship deal with a remote control company. Click on the image to the right to get the full details.

We're in the process of negotiating a deal with a very well known reclining chair company as well. We'll keep you posted...

Matt, any word on that sponsorship with Moose Drool beer?

New exercise bike for homeowners

Y'all know you want one!!

late Christmas Shoppers beware

Mike Gin was in big trouble when he forgot his wife's Christmas Gift. His wife told him, "Tomorrow there better be something in the driveway for me that goes zero to 200 in 2 seconds flat!"

The next morning the wife found a small package in the driveway. She opened it and found a brand new bathroom scale.

Recovery from sustained injuries for Mike is expected to be 8-12 weeks

Need I Say More?

Older Video

I know some of you have already seen this - but I thought I'd share it with the other two people on this blog who haven't seen it. This is a video of a future TWWer. Check out the look-back-fakey as she flies down the hill.

Our DH guys were proud of her since she was riding her DH bike vs. the XC bike.

Video (2.4mb)

Make sure you have your volume at a reasonable level.

Hey, this isn't high school anymore - you know, the same 5 people doing everything. Where is everyone? Shopping for the holidays? Working? Puh-leeze. Come on now, how about a little participation? More input would make this blog a bit more interesting (although you have to admit I do a damn good job by myself, right?)

Keith, this is a public call out - O Big Headeth, Big Headeth, wherefore art thou? Whyfore do you not posteth to this blogeth? A glooming peace this morning with it brings; The sun for sorrow will not show his Big Head.

Not Separated at Birth

Check out the technique - from a little guy pulling a wheelie on his Stingray(?) to airing it out on the Sea Otter course (of course, he shoulda had that front wheel down some for speed). Our very own mad scientist, Jon Heim.

Actual License Plate Frame Observed Today

"Life is to short for a full time job."

I think this person won't have to worry TOO much about getting a full time job since they can't spel. Just a pet peeve.

Name Change

Hey since somebody thinks all I can do is copy her, we're going to change the name of TWW. Already got the kit all set up.

Now that's what I'm talkin' about! No disrespect to the women associated with TWW.

Sing with me...

I walked along the avenue.
I never thought I’d meet a girl like you;
Meet a girl like you.
With auburn hair and tawny eyes;
The kind of eyes that hypnotize me through;
Hypnotize me through.

And I ran, I ran so far away.
I just ran, I ran all night and day.
I couldn’t get away.

A cloud appears above your head;
A beam of light comes shining down on you,
Shining down on you.
The cloud is moving nearer still.
Aurora borealis comes in view;
Aurora comes in view.

And I ran, I ran so far away.
I just ran, I ran all night and day.
I couldn’t get away.

Reached out a hand to touch your face;
You’re slowly disappearing from my view;
Disappearing from my view.
Reached out a hand to try again;
I’m floating in a beam of light with you;
A beam of light with you.

And I ran, I ran so far away.
I just ran, I ran all night and day.
I couldn’t get away.

And you thought you had a lot of time to kill...

Stumbled across this the other day. Almost has as much drama as the 2003 Tour with the musette crash, smashing of the family jewels, and Tyler (who?) grinding his teeth down to practically nothing.

Matt Leonard... TWW Rookie of the Year 2005

Matt Leonard is the recipient of the prestigious TWW Azonic Rookie of the Year award for 2005. He receives a pair of suh-weet Azonic lycra cycling shorts. Now he can finally ditch those gawd awful tan baggy shorts (and now the ladies will be able to see his sexy taut buns in their full glory!)

Congrats Matt! Now do your best to avoid the sophomore jinx...

Get a Rope!!!

Sometimes this world is so gol' dang freakin' pathetic it makes me sick. Read this story and you'll see what I'm talking about. Consider making a donation to this outfit so these kids can have bikes to ride again.

Be on the lookout for these bikes - they're not the standard run o' the mill bikes so they should be pretty easy to spot.

Press Release

Click here to get to the Bay Area Outreach & Recreation Program website.

Okay, so we're working on making one big donation from TWW - if you want to make a donation, let us know. Our goal is $500. We're at $1,260 now!!! Thanks to all who contributed - we'd still like more if you are so inclined. Thanks!!! We'll be sending this in today, Friday 12/16. Y'all rock!!!

PG&E will match donations so let's get this thing going!!!

Just How Old Are You?

Got about 20 minutes to kill at work? Check out this website and answer the questions truthfully. I imagine most cyclists will be younger than they actually are. Doesn't mean though you dirty old men out there will have a chance with that twenty-somethin' hottie... Sorry.

Rockville Ride Rocked!

Photo again stolen from Mark Davidson (circa 2000)

Great turnout for the pre-holiday Rockville ride. Was reminscent of the ol' days - we had prolly 15 or so riders at any one point. Me, Nick, Seery, Rudnick, JohnnyH, Eryn!, Charlie, Jennifer, Darren, Jesse, Scott, Mike F., Bob K., Jeffery, and some others I think were there. Some of the real DHers were there and did some serious drops. And I used to think I was good. Dang - crazy stuff. We hope to do this ride once a month during the winter, so pay attention to the blog/list for details. Hope to throw in a SS only ride one of those times. I guess that means I need to get in better shape. Turns out that Nigerian training program I purchased online isn't working too well (ride/race until the end of July, then shut it down completely for 4 months, and then start again). They said it was one giant interval, who knew?

Charlie, send me that group photo when you get a chance, okee dokee?

Endurance racing in '06

Ok, ok so I've been away from blogging for a while and just had the itch to post some random stuff...

So who's up for some endurance racing in 2006?

* http://www.12hrsoftemecula.com/

* 24Hrs of Adrenaline Schedule will be posted on Dec 16th.
http://www.24hoursofadrenalin.com/twenty4/index.cfm?fuseaction=dsp_news

* Granny Gear
http://grannygear.com/index.shtml

* Cream Puff
http://www.puff100.netfirms.com/race/index.html

* E100
http://www.thee100.com/

* Vapor Trail 125 miler
http://vaportrail125.com/
Now this one has me really intrigued!

For now, I'm pretty much set on not doing the Cream Puff again...however, we shall see how I feel once registration opens. I think I'd like to try a different 100 miler this year. I'm entertaing the E100 and the Vapor Trail 125.

Cheers,
Isaias

For the Next TWW Tahoe Hot Tub Party...

Rumor has it, this post on Craigslist may have been a result of that very soiree... Daggonit, what again was I doing? Laundry? Home remodeling? Cleaning the toilet? Oh the freakin' humanity!!!

Critical News Report

Please click on the link below for this important news report. Make sure you have your volume up so you can hear her speak.

Hopefully if you have family and friends in the Pacific Northwest they're not impacted by this.

Future TWW Woman...

Well, a girl in this case. Check out the cool bike that will be someone's Christmas present - it has working front suspension (40mm), hand and coaster brakes, aluminum frame, alloy rims, and of course, is an SS baby!!! Certainly would meet Velo Bella's approval, right?

The GGG Lives?!!!

Whaawhaaawhawhat???!!! Well, we were serious about 2005 being our last year. But we know a lotta people love the event. So someone has stepped forward and will be running it. TWW will not be affiliated with this event in 2006 however. The date sounds like it is set for March 26-27.

Due to legal reasons (a major network put the kibosh on our name), the GGG will now be known as the CHDH - Corral Hollow Downhill. Contact Blake (bvonknopka@hotmail.com) if you want to help volunteer. Blake did a lot of the heavy digging and course design last year. Good luck to Blake and his crew!

For Immediate Release...

In a highly anticipated move, Team Roaring Mouse today changed their name to Team Boring Mouse. Paula "Master" Bates, Team Leader (aka Team Master), explained - "We felt the name change was appropriate since it was much more representative of our team. Glory to the... yaaawn."

More details to follow on this breaking story...

Pre-Holiday Rockville Ride 12/11 @ 10am

It has been many moons since we've done this ride. Stairsteps, drops, singletrack, crashes, oh my! Come check out some of the most fun riding in the Bay Area. Good technical stuff. You don't have to be in great shape to do this ride (thankfully). But you betta have some skills bwoy! (Photo of Dawn unsuccessfully negotiating the stairsteps courtesy of Mark Davidson. Sorry Dawn.)

See the comments link below for directions and an extended description of the ride.

I gotta go, I gotta go!

Totally random post, but everytime I see this photo I crack up. Maybe we'll have to post these on the honey huts at our next event...

How's the theory work? The closer you get to the restroom, the need to go increases exponentially or something like that.

Photo Caption Contest

Photo stolen from the database of our most ex-suh-lent photographer Lloyd. Taken at the 2004 GGG. I think one if not both are Franck's kids (go figure). No prizes either if you were wondering - just bragging rights (does anything else matter?!)

But Isaias was the first to do this!

Isaias wasn't the first cross dresser on TWW...

While it is not my bag baby, some guy wanted me to put this photo on the blog. Not that there is anything wrong with it (not referring to the photo by the way although apparently some think it is wrong).

I think I remember him saying at the time the photo was taken, something to the effect - "It started off pretty good panning up from the bottom - then all of a sudden, there was HIS face!"

Actually, here is the quote:
"YIKES!!!!!.. Scroll down so you only see the lower half and it really looks like a BABE!!!"

Quote o' the Day...

"Yes Mike the blog page looks good! Nice job, now go back and shut the f*** up. TWW doesn't do appreciation." - name withheld to protect the notso innocent

Please note that the message was meant in jest because the person who sent it knows I could beat the crap out of him. Thank you and have a nice day!

Potential Quotes for Inside Collar of 2006 TWW Jersey

Not meant to be a political thingy - just pretty funny quotes from Dubyah.

"If we don't succeed, we run the risk of failure."

"One word sums up probably the responsibility of any Governor, and that one word is 'to be prepared'."

"I have made good judgments in the past. I have made good judgments in the future."

"The future will be better tomorrow."

"We are ready for any unforeseen event that may or may not occur."

"It isn't pollution that's harming the environment. It's the impurities in our air and water that are doing it."

"It's time for the human race to enter the solar system."

Quote o' the Month

"Yes, I do recall that the TWW boyz do speak with their little brains, and it's one of the team's most endearing features. Don't change! Chicks dig horny cross country racers." - Julie Barott, Team Roaring Meeses

2005 Groovy Gravity Games Video on Google Video

Hmm... how did Nick get so lucky and get to check Heather's rear derailleur?
We've got a few of these stickers left - perfect size for your top tube, rear window, or on the crash barriers at the Bay Bridge toll plaza.

How underwhelming... The Team Wrong Way blog.

Ooh boy, TWW, once on the cutting edge of technology (remember the early website and the call in hotline?), is now slow to the game (must come with age) - we finally have our very own blog. Release the kraken!!! Yippay.

Not sure how this will be used, but our friends at Velo Bella have one, so shouldn't we also? Hell, Sabine is on record saying she stole all of our good ideas (why not the bad ones?) from our website... so here is a little payback... take that... you ain't so bad! I know you are, but what am I? Huh?
